Winter Wonderland

Sorry I haven’t been posting much lately! I’ll be back regularly in the New Year:) I just wanted to wish everyone happy holidays and a happy New Year!!

Every time Christmas comes around, I love getting in the spirit by doing a festive manicure. Despite jet lag, this year was no Photo 29-12-14 10 47 12 amexception. I painted a dark red base (regent street by Nails Inc) for my left hand and dark green for my right. Urban Decay really has the best glitter coats, so I did two nails with glitter on top (breaking my no gold and silver together rule, but it’s Christmas so who cares:)) I did candy cane silver stripes on my pinky nail with a toothpick, dotting the lines and joining them together. On my thumb nail I drew some silver stars, also with a toothpick and finally I drew a little snowman on my last nail, which was my personal favourite. I drew on a little carrot nose using OPI’s ‘where did Suzi’s man-go’ and again with a toothpick dotted on some snow above.

Twirl

Photo 18-9-14 2 43 46 pmI love grey and black together. It’s not quite monochromatic, but has the same sort of “cool” effect. So I know it’s autumn and pretty close to winter and this is more of a summer outfit, but it’s still good for vacation! Or wear it with sheer black tights, ankle boots and throw a parka on over it and you’re good to go! I love this skater skirt (though I have to be careful of wind) and it hits right at the perfect place to be paired with crop tops. I really like the way this top cuts in at the shoulders and it’s a great length too. Something about this outfit vaguely brings 1960’s mod fashion to mind for me, but I’m no expert so I could be totally mistaken on that.

Photo 18-9-14 2 40 48 pm (1)I did matte red lips (Revlon) which matched my bright red Essie toenails, though my favourite nail colour at the moment is a perfect-for-fall deep oxblood colour. I wore cagey black strappy sandals to tie the outfit together and wore little black and gold Van Cleef & Arpels stud earrings which are obviously very much covered by my hair. Don’t forget to moisturize! The one that works best for me is by Garnier Body with canadian maple leaf extract, but for scented ones I usually go for Victoria’s Secret body lotion topped off with their body mists:)

The best accessory? A smile, (and a laugh too):) I know I was laughing twirling around in the park:)

Wings

No, this isn’t about birds or angels, or whatever other winged creatures there are out there. It’s about eyeliner (sorry for the let-down if you were expecting an animal post, though there was a bat in my bedroom the other day!!).

I’m talking about classic winged eyeliner. So, you probably don’t need me telling you about it, I mean I even referred to it as ‘classic’, but I thought I’d dedicate a post to it since it’s one of my favourite ways to do my eyes.IMG_6111IMG_6122

It’s simple, it’s sharp; and topped off with the little flick on the end, it manages to draw attention to your eyes and elongate their shape. My favourite liner is the Maybelline Hypersharp liner in ‘blackest black’. It’s like a liquid pencil that glides on really easily and has a ultra fine tip for the most precise finish.

Just wing it:) (Sorry I’m well aware of how cheesy that sounds.)

Top Knot, Red Lips

We all have thoTop knot, red lips 3se ‘can’tbe bothered to do my makeup’ days. But, of course we still want to look put-together (drop-dead gorgeous would be nice too).

Ed Sheeran once said ‘white lips, pale face’, well I prefer red lips for a splash of colour.

There’s nothing quite like a red lip to make any look look classy and thought-out. Matte red often has added impact. My preferred one is Revlon cloudburst matte balm in Standout. It isn’t sticky, stays put for hours and doesn’t dry out my lips. Did I mention that it’s shaped like a crayon for effortless and precise application?

A red lip, coupled with a high bun instantly pulls any look together. I prefer a relatively neat top knot, but a messy bun works just fine too;) Curl your eyelashes for an easy finishing touch.

It only takes a minute, promise:)
